Library Monitors

At Slater Primary School, we encourage our students to take on leadership roles that contribute to the school community. Our Library Monitors play an essential role in helping to maintain a well-organized and welcoming library space for everyone.

 

What Do Library Monitors Do?

Library Monitors are responsible for ensuring that the school library is a calm, tidy, and inspiring place for students to read and learn. Their key duties include:

📚 Helping to organise and shelve books correctly
📝 Assisting students in finding books and making recommendations
👩🏫 Supporting younger pupils with reading activities
🧹 Keeping the library tidy
📆 Assisting in setting up book fairs, reading challenges, and special events
📖 Encouraging a love of reading across the school

 

How Are Library Monitors Chosen?

Library Monitors are selected from Year 5 and Year 6 students who demonstrate:
A passion for books and reading
A responsible and organised attitude
Good communication and teamwork skills
The ability to support and help others

Students interested in becoming a Library Monitor can apply by speaking to the librarian or their teacher. Successful candidates are chosen based on their application and enthusiasm for the role.
