Together We Believe. Together We Achieve
The primary school curriculum at Slater is designed to nurture young minds while fostering the core values of: Excellence, Inclusivity, Respect,Resilience and Community.
Excellence
Our curriculum is ambitious, engaging, and carefully planned to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning. We aim to inspire curiosity, deepen knowledge, and develop the skills children need to succeed academically and personally.
Inclusivity
We design our curriculum to be fully inclusive, ensuring all pupils—regardless of background, language, or ability—can access rich learning experiences. Differentiation, scaffolding, and cultural relevance are built into our planning to meet the needs of every child.
Respect
Through our curriculum, pupils explore diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences, developing empathy and understanding. We explicitly teach and model respectful behaviour, valuing every voice and promoting thoughtful dialogue across all subjects.
Resilience
Learning at Slater includes opportunities to solve problems, reflect on mistakes, and tackle challenges with perseverance. Our curriculum builds resilience by encouraging independence, critical thinking, and a growth mindset across all subjects.
Community
Our curriculum connects learning to real-life contexts and local heritage, encouraging pupils to see themselves as active members of their community. We foster strong links with parents, local organisations, and global issues to enrich learning and build social responsibility.
At Slater, our curriculum goes beyond academics, it builds character, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
We use the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised programme to teach phonics. See the link below for more details.
