The School Day
Opening and Closing Times
Our school gates open at 8:35am and children can go directly into their classrooms The school gates will close at 8:45am and class registers will be taken.
Foundation Stage 1
For children in Foundation Stage 1 the day starts at 8:35am and finishes at 11:45am. Parents enter the school from the gate on Slater Street and go through to the Foundation classroom for drop offs. To collect, parents wait at the gate at the front of the school on Frog Island.
Foundation Stage 2
For children in Foundation Stage 2 the day starts at 8:35am and finishes at 3:15pm. Parents enter the main playground from the gate on Slater Street and go through to the Foundation classroom for drop offs and collection. The gates are closed at 8:45am for drop offs and open at 3:15pm for collections.
Years 1 and 2
The school day starts at 8:35am and finishes at 3:15pm. Children enter the main playground from the gate on Slater Street and go to their classroom through the black gates. The gates are closed at 8:45am for drop offs and open at 3:15pm for collections. Children are to be collected from the their classrooms.
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6
The school day starts at 8:35am and finishes at 3:15pm. Children enter the main playground from the gate on Slater Street and go to their classroom via the alleyway. The gates are closed at 8:45am for drop offs and open at 3:15pm for collections. Children are to be collected from the main playground.
Registration
Registration is completed by 8:45am, where children's attendance and dinner choices are logged, followed by the first teaching session.
Any children arriving after 8:45am will need to enter via the main door. Office staff will register them and take their dinner choices.
Breaktime
10:10am - 10:25am: Years 1 & 2
10:30am - 10.45am: Years 3 - 6
Lunchtime
11:45am - 12:35pm: Foundation 2
11:45am - 12:35pm: Years 1 and 2
12:00pm - 12:50pm: Years 3, 4, 5 and 6

Assemblies
On the dedicated days, assemblies are held in the school hall.
Star of the Week 
The Star of the Week assembly celebrates individual student achievements, recognizing those who have excelled in academics, behavior, or personal growth. Attendance Celebrations 
Attendance assemblies reward students and classes with excellent or improved attendance. They highlight the importance of regular school attendance in academic success and personal development. By celebrating attendance, Slater promotes responsibility, punctuality, and a commitment to learning.
Festival Celebrations
Our Festival assemblies honour cultural and religious events, helping students appreciate diversity and traditions. These gatherings foster inclusivity, mutual respect, and a sense of community, allowing students to learn about and celebrate different cultures.
Charity Assemblies
Our Charity assemblies raise awareness about important causes and encourage students to participate in fundraising and acts of kindness. They instil empathy, social responsibility, and a sense of service, helping students understand the impact of generosity and compassion in making a difference.
Singing Assembly
Our Singing assemblies bring students together to enjoy and participate in music, promoting creativity and self-expression. These gatherings help build confidence, improve well-being, and foster a sense of unity within the school. Singing enhances memory, teamwork, and a positive school atmosphere through joyful and collaborative experiences.
