Lunchtime Buddies

At Slater Primary School, we believe in creating a happy, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students. Our Lunchtime Buddies are essential in ensuring everyone feels welcome, included, and safe during break times.

What Do Lunchtime Buddies Do?

Lunchtime Buddies are friendly, responsible students who help ensure that lunchtime is an enjoyable experience for everyone. Their key responsibilities include:

🍎 Helping younger students find a seat and settle in at lunchtime
😊 Encouraging kindness, good manners, and positive interactions
🎲 Organising games and activities to include everyone in play
👫 Supporting children who may feel lonely or need a friend
👀 Keeping an eye out for anyone who needs help and informing staff if necessary

How Are Lunchtime Buddies Chosen?

Lunchtime Buddies are selected from Year 4 students who show:
A caring and friendly attitude
Good communication and teamwork skills
A willingness to help others
A positive role model for younger pupils

Students interested in becoming a Lunchtime Buddy can apply by speaking to their teacher. The Senior Leadership Team selects students based on their application and suitability for the role.
