Together We Believe. Together We Achieve
Curriculum & Teaching (Intent)
At Slater Primary School, we believe PE is essential for fostering holistic development. Our vision is to provide an inclusive, engaging, and diverse PE curriculum that reflects our inner-city, multicultural community.
Key aims include:
• Inclusivity and Accessibility: Offer activities for all abilities so every child can participate and succeed.
• Cultural Diversity: Incorporate sports and games from different cultures to celebrate heritage.
• Skill Development: Build fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and strategic thinking.
• Health and Well-being: Promote physical activity for mental and physical health, encouraging lifelong habits.
• Community Engagement: Connect with local sports clubs and organisations for extended opportunities.
Personal Development & Wellbeing (Implementation)
We deliver PE through a broad range of activities, including team sports, individual challenges, and culturally diverse games. Lessons are sequenced to develop physical competence and confidence progressively. Partnerships with local sports organisations provide enrichment opportunities. Health education is embedded to promote active lifestyles and emotional well-being.
Achievement (Impact)
Pupils develop physical skills, resilience, and teamwork. They understand the importance of health and fitness and demonstrate confidence in applying these principles beyond school. By the end of KS2, pupils are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to lead active, healthy lives and participate positively in diverse sporting contexts.
