PREFECTS

Prefects

At Slater Primary School, we believe in nurturing student leadership and providing opportunities for Year 6 pupils to take on important roles. Our Prefects are responsible, dedicated students who support the school community, set a positive example, and contribute to the smooth running of the school.

What Do Prefects Do?

Prefects play an essential role in the daily life of the school. Their key responsibilities include:

✅ Helping to maintain order and discipline around the school
✅ Assisting staff with monitoring students during breaks and lunchtimes
✅ Supporting younger students and acting as role models
✅ Assisting in school events, assemblies, and special activities
✅ Helping teachers with classroom tasks when needed
✅ Encouraging good behaviour, respect, and a positive attitude among all students

How Are Prefects Chosen?

Each year, students in Year 6 can apply to become a Prefect. The selection process involves:

📝 Application – Interested students submit an application, outlining their strengths, reasons for wanting to be a Prefect, and how they will contribute to the school.
📋 Shortlisting – The Senior Leadership Team reviews the applications and selects the most responsible, reliable, and dedicated students.
🏅 Final Selection – Selected Prefects are given their role at the beginning of the school year and are expected to carry out their duties throughout the year.
