Together We Believe. Together We Achieve
School Council
At Slater Primary School, we believe in giving our students a voice and the opportunity to make a real difference. Our School Council is a team of dedicated pupils who work together to represent their classmates, share ideas, and help improve school life.
The School Council is made up of student representatives from each year group. They meet regularly to discuss important issues, suggest improvements, and plan initiatives that benefit the whole school community.
Our School Council members:
✅ Represent the views and ideas of their classmates
✅ Work closely with teachers and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to make positive changes
✅ Organize fundraising events and charity activities
✅ Help promote school values such as respect, teamwork, and responsibility
✅ Support school events and encourage student participation
✅ Act as role models for the rest of the school
At the start of each school year, students have the opportunity to apply and be elected to the School Council through a democratic process:
🗳️ Nominations – Pupils put themselves forward and explain why they would make a great School Council representative.
🎤 Speeches – Candidates give a short speech to their class, sharing their ideas and goals.
✅ Class Vote- Each class votes for its representative, ensuring that every student has a say in who will represent them.
At Slater Primary School, we value student leadership and encourage all pupils to actively shape their school experience. The School Council is a fantastic way for students to develop confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills while making a meaningful impact.
